Setting Your Priorities

Setting your priorities is one of the most important things you have to do in sales.

You have to make sure you are doing the right thing at the right time.

Once you have set down and actually made a list of goals and preferences it is time to prioritize your daily career goals.

You have to prospect as well set your appointments in an orderly fashion. This is a given.

So the easiest way I have found to do all of this is take a blank piece of paper and right in the middle of it I will draw an oblong circle.

In this circle I will write my main purpose or goal.

Make X amount of dollars by when ever for example.

Once I do this I will begin to think what I have to do to make sure I make the money I have set out to make.

It does not make any difference the amount you are putting down in the circle just be realistic about how long it will take to meet the goal.

Now as you are thinking about this something will come to mind. For example make X amount of phone calls, or write X amount of letters or e-mails. Knock on X amount of doors or follow up on X amount of leads.

You are beginning to understand aren’t you?

Each of these ideas and amounts will go in its own little circle out from the main one in the middle.

You should soon have eight to ten little circles with chores that need to done written into them.

Now guess what, each of the little circles will generate more ideas.
It might be different things like certain areas to work or different products to promote but what ever it is original and you thought it up on your own.

Now guess what? Each of these little ideas creates even more ideas and you just keep on going.

Once you have a clear idea of what to do and when to do it, take all of these ideas and list them on a sheet of paper and get a calendar and plan your days, weeks and months so you earn this god awful sum you placed in the big circle in the middle of the idea page.

What you have just done is create a mind map and it is the easiest way I know of to become extremely creative with no help from anyone else at all.

What if you wanted to start your own company?

You just have to get five or six of the best people you know to do the different jobs necessary and the group will brainstorm it through.

You can do anything working this way so I know you can become a great success.

You just have to follow through and do the things you have listed.

Thank you,
