Local Events May Well Effect Your Sales Profession

Indeed when things go south in the area where you live and effect the local economy then people in the profession of making a living at selling something are effected.

The area where I live, which is in South East Texas close to the gulf coast has had it's share of natural disasters and man made ones as well. We had a major oil spill a few months ago when an oil tanker ran a ground and spilled a tremendous amount of oil into the Neches river.

I live about forty to fifty miles up stream from where the incident occurred so I was not effected personally but the area south of me was going through some white knuckle moments during the clean up of the spill.

In the case of this spill the weather was fine and the people that cleaned up the spill were very professional and had it all taken care of in a few days.

This off shore spill that is effecting the Louisiana coast shortly and possibly several other states though is an entirely different matter.

If you live in one of these soon to be effected areas now is the time to make sure you can stand the drop in the economy that is bound to follow the spill.

You may have to think in terms of twenty to thirty years as the Alaskan coast is still being effected by the spill there twenty or so years ago.

If your personal economy is at stake start making plans now as to what you are going to do to be able to survive. I have always believed in being proactive and making sure I would be able to see the situation through with the least amount of difficulty.

Depending on what you are selling you may have to start concentrating on working about fifty to hundred miles in land where the economy will be effected the least.

You may even have to move to a different area of the country to earn your living. The important thing is to start thinking now what is ahead for your profession and what will be the best thing to do in the event that things get really bad.

You should be able to tell in a few short weeks exactly what you are up against but in the mean time I would start looking on the internet and what every other means you have to find a long term solution in the event that the economy does really start getting to be bad in your local area.

When you have been through as many hurricanes, storms and bad times as I have you will learn to meet trouble head on.

You will find that winning ninety percent of the time is up to you and no one else.
