Continued Education

In sales it's just the same as in many other professions. There will be a lot of constant changes going on all around you, all of the time.

Your products and services change, the customer's needs and wants change and even the management of your company changes.

In fact the very methods of making sales change at an alarming rate all of the time. The only way the can keep up with all of this constant change and growth is through continued education.

You have to continue to learn better ways of selling and convincing people to purchase your products and services.

A lot of salespeople are turning to the internet to not only make sales but also to develop leads for the products that they now sell.

There are a lot of advertising programs set up to advertise in your local area on the internet. Normally the cost to do this is much less than print advertising. I should mention that this does not do away with print advertising but does provide many new ways to enhance it.

You still get massive exposure through the use of print advertising and for now it is the quickest way to get contacts on a local level, so don't discard it completely.

I feel as time goes by though, more and more people will be going to the internet to do their shopping. I do a considerable amount of my day to day purchases on the Web.

So far I have had great experiences with every online purchase I have made. I save a lot of money and also a lot of time. You don't have to drive to town and look at the limited selection that you are going to have in the smaller cities.

The most recent thing I have been interested in is kitchen cabinets. Yes I went through hurricane Rita like about a half a million or so of my neighbors. So I to am now forced to do some remodeling and reconstruction on my home. This is why I might add I have not made a post recently but things are getting back some what to normal.

You may not have realized it but virtually every purchase you make now days, other than cash purchases and sometimes checks is an Internet purchase. When you use your credit or debit card, the cashier puts it right on the Internet right there in front of you so you can sign or put in your pin number to complete the purchase.

The only difference is you are just not going to the website yourself to do it. The store, gas station or doctor's office is sending your information the same as if you did it yourself from your home or your office.

So don't be to scared to make a purchase on the internet because you are now using it every day to make purchases and have been for years even if you didn't know it.

Another reason to shop on the internet even if you live in the big city is that you are limited to where you can travel in a reasonable amount of time. I know that when we visit our nearby big city, (Houston, Texas) it can easily take an hour to an hour and half just to cross over to the other side of town. This of course depends on the season and amount of traffic that day. I can tell you this; it is never easy. These days at $2.25 to $3.00 for gas it sometimes just does not make sense.

Even in the small city that we live close to (Beaumont, Texas) and visit almost every day is quite difficult to get around in. The majority of the time the traffic is overwhelming the roads and highways. It also seems as if there is always construction every where you drive. (Especially after hurricane Rita's passing by)

On the other hand the Internet highway as it is know allows you to communicate, shop and browse virtually at the speed of light for all sorts of things all over the planet.

You can find great bargains and products you were never even aware of, every where you look. Obviously you have to be aware of thieves and conmen just the same as you would when dealing with people face to face or on the phone.

If you use a little common sense and don't buy into the deals that are too good to be true, you will do all right though.

I like selling on the Internet because you only have to write out the sales presentation once and assuming it is a good one it will continue to work for you, for a long, long time.

Remember, regardless of what methods you use to sell with, it is still selling. This might mean selling over the Internet, in person, over the phone, TV, Radio or print advertising to mention a few.

All methods follow more or less the same format. You have to make a good approach and warm up to sell the customer on listening to your presentation. You must then make a great presentation and answer objections, if any. After all of this your next step is to close. In other words you must ask for the order.

Also remember sales can only be made to interested people. People tend to become interested when they have a (problem) they need to solve. They are either interested before you even get there or else you have to develop interest during the presentation by uncovering problems or creating problems that can be solved by your product. All of this process happens through contact and follow through, using what ever methods that are available for you to use.

Basically all we are getting at is, making a sale just follows a simple format no matter the method are what you are selling. The sales formula has to follow this path because that is how the human mind works. This method has worked for thousands and thousands of years and hopefully will continue to do so. We are just getting better at making multiple presentations all at once instead of one at a time.

In order to get a handle on all of the new methods of dealing with people you as a Professional Salesperson have to continue your education and read all of the latest material on sales. You all so have to read to increase your knowledge of life in general.

When we talk to people or customers we need to be aware of current affairs, the weather and your products and the problems they solve. You are way ahead of the prospect or should be in the knowledge of what you are selling.

I must warn you however, you do not need to tell your prospect everything you know about your product when you call on them. I will admit I was once guilty of doing this on a regular basis, very early in my sales career. You can read about what the results of doing this were, right here. http://www.thesellingfool.com/Authors_page.html

You just need all of this knowledge so you can answer any questions that may come up as well as using your knowledge to create the problems your products can solve.

If you do this constant improvement and continued education on a daily basis you will soon become a very knowledgeable salesperson and as a result should be able to become a very wealthy one in a short period of time.

Please visit us at our website often. Our goal is to eventually become the number one leading portal for both new and professional salespeople world wide. We have a tremendous amount of new things and ideas in the planning stages and soon to be implemented at the site. So as I say visit often, both this blog and at the website.
