The Best Way To Insure Sucess in Your Sales Career

Is there a Way to Insure Your Success as a Salesperson

Believe it or not there is a way to increase your chances by several hundred percent when you decide to enter the profession of sales.

First you have to get in the habit of thinking backwards. What I mean by this is decide what you want to be earning in say two or even three years from now.

It is your life so you are going to have to set your own goals. My roll in all of this is to show you a few shortcuts to your future success.

Let’s say for example you have set a goal of being one of the, if not the top salesperson in your particular sales profession in say three years.

You have to visualize all of this as if it has already come to pass. How do things look at the top? What kind of money are you making? What kind of investments do you have? What kind of car are you driving? Where are you living? What kind of clothes are you wearing? How is your health? What does you spouse or significant other think of you? What schools are you either planning for or actually sending your children to? Where are you going to be spending your vacation?

Once you start doing this sort of thinking you also need to start writing all of these ideas down. From all of these lists of things you will be accomplishing you will get a clear vision of what you want and will be happening in your life.

Next I am going to show you how to make all of this come true.

I will assume that you have been thinking big and therefore it is going to take a considerable stable income to finance all of these ideas.

Remember I said you are going to have to think backwards. I say this because it is only common sense. All we have to do at this point after we decided what we are going to accomplish is think what the next to the last step is and then the step before the next last step and so forth.

For example, going backwards we know that roughly 35% of all sales are the result of good referrals from satisfied customers. So the step prior to getting a good flow of referrals, that we are going to need to insure our becoming one of the top salespeople in our field is to make sure that we always ask for referrals. You have to do this because referrals are the life blood of your business.

Now in order to have someone to ask for referrals from, you need to be making some sales.

To make sales you must know how to close an order. Your company may or may not have a good training program to teach you this, if not you can come to the Selling Fool Website and get some good pointers on this so you do not have to reinvent the wheel so to speak.

Now in order to have someone (a prospect) in the proper state of mind to be open to your closing arguments you must have made a good presentation. Once again if your company does not offer the how to for making a good presentation you can come to the Selling Fool Web site for a few pointers on how to do this as well and get the kind of results you are looking for.

To make a presentation you have to get invited into the home or office of the prospect to be able to do this. If need be, I have a good article on how to approach and warm up the prospect so they will be open to your making a good presentation.

Now to have someone that you can approach and warm up with to get in their door while they have an open mind, you obviously have to have a prospect. In order to get prospects you will have to do some prospecting. There are hundreds of ways to get prospects and all of the ways have not been discovered yet but all methods have the same objective in mind. You need prospects that have a need for what ever you are selling and also the means to pay for it.

In other words, if they want your product or service bad enough and have the money or credit to pay for it there will not be much standing in your way of making the sale.

Hopefully your company has a lead program of some sort. If not, you can come to the Selling Fool Website where you can learn some simple effective prospecting methods and learn very quickly I might add.

Now in order to make you prospecting and selling efforts pay off well you need to have a product that is second to none. This product needs to be a product that is dependable and works every time. You not only have to have confidence in the product you prospect needs to have this same confidence that the product you are showing and demonstrating will do the job and solve his problem for him.

I will now give you an example of a product that I recently purchased. I have recently gone through a hurricane (Rita) and had my house about 35% or 40% destroyed and on top of that I am setting here in the middle of a flood that has kept my wife and I isolated here at the house for eight days as I am writing the first draft for this post (October 26, 2006) and it looks like it will be one to two more days before we can drive out in my pickup. We live two blocks from the Neches River as well as having a large private lake across the road in front of the house and the rest of the area which is normally deep woods is now a swamp for a few more days. So there is a lot of water surrounding us and what does all of that add up to? The truth is lots and lots of mosquitoes.

I found a product on the Internet that turned out to be the answer to my prayers. This is a machine that eradicates mosquitoes. I have had the ultra violet bug zappers around the house for many years but this machine runs on propane and uses a chemical lure as well as having sort of a fly paper with a patented black and white design on it that attracts all kinds of biting insects such as gnats, horse flies and of course mosquitoes. I would like to say that it catches them by the pound but that is not quite true. The instructions said that in two weeks time we should see a noticeable reduction in the amount of mosquitoes in our yard. The instructions also says that every female mosquito that is killed would prevent 25000 mosquitoes from being hatched out over several generations.

I would like to report that apparently there was no hype in their statements. I put the unit out the Sunday after the fourth of July this year and within three weeks time I had virtually no mosquitoes in my yard. I can tell you this. If they are out there it will get them. Even in this big flood it is catching the mosquitoes as quickly as they fly by. My neighbor used to have several horses on their property and when the horses left the horse flies started to prey on the people around here. I am excited to report that there are no horse flies here at all period. In my opinion just getting rid of these biting flies was well worth the cost of the unit.

The reason I even mentioned the purchase of this product is to show you that I am totally sold on the use of this product to solve my mosquito problem and obviously I would have to no problem convincing others that have a similar problem of using one of these machines to make their back yard livable again. I have lived here thirty years last February and have never been really able to enjoy any out door activities per say. Now I can set outside or enjoy my gardening or any outdoor activity I desire. In fact a couple of weeks ago I bought my wife a swing set, picnic table with umbrella and a large gazebo to really enjoy outdoor living.

You need to find a product that you can really believe in. No phony hype or BS just a good down to earth product that will do what it supposed to do and something you can really get excited about. Then you find out who distributes in your area and go make the best pitch you have ever made to become a sales person who can represent them in the community. If you are three hundred percent sold on the product you should have no trouble convincing them that you are the man or woman to sell the product for them.

So there you have it, find a product that you love.
Learn to sell and find customers who you can help to become just as sold on the product as you are and then with their help and referrals you my friend can become one of the very top sales people in your field for your company and enjoy every minute of it I might add.
