Being Organized

Being organized is a number one priority to be successful in a sales career.

Sales is a very unique profession and for the most part being successful at it is just a matter of being of being well organized.

You have to set your priorities the day before and have everything lined up to keep thinking and guessing to a minimum.

When you know what you are going to do and when you are going to do it, it becomes a matter of just following through and getting things done.

My goal every day for years on end was to make three presentations a day.

Each presentation was made with a positive attitude and the expectation that a sale would be made.

More often than not this is exactly what did happen.

Over the years though things change and now it is a different world than when I was growing up.

Most sales today are a result of advertising to get the leads to call on.

People just don't think kindly of someone just walking up and knocking on their door as we used to do in years gone by.

People do not want phone solicitors calling at all hours trying to make appointments to make sales.

The selling profession today is a lot different than it used to be but sales can still be made.

Today we have have to rely more on referrals and working with the customers who already have a working relationship with either you or your company.

If you continue to improve your relationships with your customers you can and will make more and more sales to these people and to their friends that they will be more than happy to recommend to you.

Every week or so it is a good idea to set down and have a good old heart to heart conversation with yourself and then brainstorm and figure out what you can do better to help increase your sales volume.

You will find by doing this and acting on your own suggestions you will develop the habit of constant improvement.

This is what it is all about getting, better and better over time.

Thank you,

Billy J Gibson
