Are You Down On Your Luck

Being down on your luck is something that happens to all of us at times.
It has no bearing on race, creed or color. Even your occupation has no bearing on the situation.

Anybody can get caught up in some fraudulent scheme for example even a doctor or lawyer.

But being down on your luck as I am describing it is being in the occupation or career as a salesperson and all of your prospects for sales go south.

Unfortunately this has happen to me from time to time so I have been there and done that.

Now if you find yourself in this predicament, do not despair as there is a way out.

Once you have been in sales for any period of time you to will go through the unavoidable sales slump.

Now I am not saying there is an easy answer as it is never easy but there is a method that always works and has never failed me.

What I do is get positive and put on the old thinking cap.

Go through all of your leads and see if there are any prospects you have not been able to see lately.

After you do that then come up with a new game plan? I have had to go to new areas or even different towns at times.

You can check the newspaper archives at the library and see if there are some new businesses that have started up or old businesses that are expanding.

No matter how bad it gets there are some good positive things going on somewhere in the community.

Your job is find new customers with the means to buy your product.
You can try putting ads on the internet as you can figure out some ways to do this in your local area for free.

Just put the key words for what you are looking for: (free advertising space) followed with the city and state where you want the free advertising to be posted.

In some areas there may be more than one hundred web sites that will let you post a small classified add for free.

Remember that the ad has to follow your company guide lines as to what you can say so you don’t get you or your employer in trouble. Some companies may require that you run your ad by their attorney just to make sure.

You can also drive down the street if you sell a product where you can spot potential prospects from your car.

For example homes with bad roofs, siding or windows if you are selling home improvements.

If you sell insurance you might want young families with children so you look for toys, bicycles and skateboards in the yard.

If you sell security alarms look for home with out alarm signs in the yard or watch the paper for areas around homes that have been broken into recently.

These types of prospects are motivated to want what you are selling before you call, mail a brochure or knock on the door.

The other thing you need to do is go back to doing the presentation the way you first learned it and read all of your old notes on how to overcome objections in your line of sales.

Also study all of the old closes, they still work if put them to use.
Keep thinking positive all during this process and in no time at all you will be back on top, meeting the same sales goals you always have done before.

Thank you,
Billy J Gibson
