Becoming A Mover and a Shaker
If you want to become a mover and a shaker there are several things that you need to do.
First of all you need to start thinking and dreaming bigger. By that I mean set down in a comfortable place where you can take an hour or so to do some serious thinking.
I would get a pen and paper and put down what ever ideas come to mind. There are virtually no bad ideas it is just a matter of tweaking them so you can do something with them. The secret to all of this is getting your thinking organized so that you can accomplish some serious planning.
The first thing I would do is write my bullets. In other words you need to put a few headlines down just like you were writing and article or classified ad and want to organize your thinking.
Example: I want to be head of the XYZ department in six months.
I will do this by first doing A.
Second I will accomplish B.
Third I will accomplish C.
When you make your head lines it will let you set the goals and then see what has to be accomplished and in what order you need to be doing these things. As you go along you will also decide in what reasonable time frame will all of this be happening.
Don't decide at this time what is foolish and impossible just think and write. Think about what you want to do for yourself, your family and your fellow man. To do what you need to do would it help to become the mayor or some other elected official. If so you are already working on your campaign platform and how you are going to finance it.
If you want to help the local population of uninspired and under educated young people you might consider being a volunteer at the local YMCA, Salvation Army or some sort of Youth Ministry.
You probably have a pet project in mind such as cleaning the beaches in the spring or fall. Or better yet, you might consider setting up a neighborhood cleaning drive and help all the old people get their yards cleaned up and all of the trash off the sidewalks and curbside. You can help people paint their fences and even houses.
When you get an area organized and all cleaned up so it is prim and proper you will notice someone else will get the idea that their area next to you is a little shabby and soon their lawns are mowed and manicured and then the next area and the next. Soon the whole city starts to turn around.
You did all this by coming up with a plan and recruiting a few other people to help you get things rolling.
This is how you build companies, help starving people help themselves and reduce crime and violence in a city or town.
If you become the self appointed leader on some small movement it can grow and grow and you will be able to look into the mirror and be the person who is living up to your own expectations.
